Luck of the Irish leads Clones to 2-1 victory!

Chris Minella
Former Notre Dame Fighting Irish forward, Chris Minella scored his 8th goal of the season at 16:56 of the 3rd period to lead the Cincinnati Cyclones (13-13-5-2) to a 2-1 victory over the Florida Everblades.

In the 1st frame, Despite the Cyclones peppering Jaroslav Janus with 14 shots, it was the Everblades leading 1-0 after the first 20 minutes. Matt Beca slid home his 7th goal of the season three minutes in under the pad of Chet Pickard to make it 1-0 Everblades.

The Cyclones continued to own the game during the 2nd period, firing 13 shots on Janus but the Lightining draft pick was able to come up for the Everblades and send them to the last 20 minutes of hockey with a 1-0 lead.

The pressure from the Cyclones finally paid off just 15 seconds into the 3rd period when captain, Barret Ehgoetz collected a loose puck in the slot and slid it under Janus for his 7th of the season to tie the game 1-1 and set the tone for the rest of the period. Chet Pickard who was re-assigned to the Cyclones from Milwaukee earlier in the day, saved the day for Cincinnati many times in the 3rd with several point blank shots fired on him. Then at 16:56, Chris Minella jumped off the bench and picked up the puck at center ice and slapped home a wrist shot that eluded the pads of Janus for a 2-1 Cyclones lead and the victory.

Pickard made 18 saves
Barret Ehgoetz collected a goal and an assist for the Cyclones, Chet Pickard who won his first game since early December stopped 18 shots and Chris Minella sent home his first game winner with his 8th.

The Cyclones and Everblades wrap up their three game set tomorrow night at the Germain Arena, the puck drops at 7:30.
