Sproat, Chevy lead Clones' past Everblades 3-1

Tonight at the Germain Arena in Estero, FL, Cyclones forward Dustin Sproat scored his 8th goal of the season since returning to Cincinnati from the Nottingham Panthers while also collecting an assist on the Cyclones second goal scored by Matt Pierce. Marc Cheverie backstopped the Clones' with 27 saves on 28 shots for his 11th win of the season.

Just 18 seconds into the drop of the faceoff, Dustin Sproat found a loose puck in the slot and buried his 8th of the season. Florida would answer back as they caught the Clones on a change and Francis Lemieux banged home a shot past Marc Cheverie to tie it at 1-1 after 20 minutes.

The 2nd period saw the Everblades only muster four shots on Cheverie, but all were quality scoring chances in which Marc would come up big. At the 12:02 mark of the period, Matt Pierce would pounce on a loose rebound left out by Everblade goalie, Jaroslav Janus for his 6th of the season and a 2-1 Cyclones lead after two.

The third, Nothing short of a shooting gallery on Cheverie as the Everblades peppered him with 12 shots but once again, Marc came up big to stonewall the Blades' opportunities. At the 17:21 mark, Scott Reynolds backhanded home another rebound left by Janus to extend the Cyclones lead to 3-1.

The victory ended the Cyclones four game losing streak. They take on the Everblades Friday at Germain Arena for game two of the three game set.
