It was early this morning at Northland Ice Arena as the 2010-11 Cyclones stepped onto the ice for their first day of camp. Head Coach, Jarrod Skalde led a very spirited practice in his first day as coach. Rookies looking to make the team like Sam D'Agostino and Chris Minella made very good impressions through the first day. Both stand over 6'0 and weigh more than 200 pounds, Yet they move down the ice very smoothly and quick.
Minella impressed well as did D'Agostino with their ability to shoot the puck."Chris and Sam both stood out, They look like they are ready to play at this level. Both of them are big and strong and they move well with the puck." Said, Head Coach Skalde. Fore-Checking and entries into the zone were key parts of the practice today with lots of dump and chase and crisp passing. The occasional shot was taken on goalies Axelson and Nischan as well.
As the players came onto the ice throughout practice there was a very high tempo of play and it seemed it never diminished throughout the entire skate. "Lot of energy, We all were excited to get on the ice and work off the rust from the summer. It was a little rough but we are going to get even better as things go on." Said, captain Barret Ehgoetz.
